About Bronte Archers

Bronte Archery Club has been in existence since 1947.  The Club has a thriving membership, with members past and present having represented both county and country.

The club has archers of all ages and abilities, shooting modern recurve and compound bows, as well as the traditional longbow. Members of the club also participate in other disciplines of the sport including clout and field archery.

New members are always welcome and encouraged to enjoy their shooting whether their interest is for fun or competition.

As with all sports, development of new (and not so new) talent is paramount. To that end, the Club has an active Junior Section that provides coaching for 8 to 17 year olds.  At senior level, the large and experienced membership ensures that helpful advice and encouragement are available for those members making their first steps into the sport, as well as for those aiming to improve their scores.

At its Rawdon Meadows location, the Club has access to excellent outdoor shooting facilities as well as a spacious indoor facility for coaching, equipment set-up and practice.

The Club is affiliated to several governing bodies:

The Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) the governing body of the sport in the U.K. They provide an administrative function and cover clubs and archers with insurance.

The Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS), which covers Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland, Cumbria, Lancashire and Cheshire and represents our region on G.N.A.S. Committees. The NCAS organises competitions in various archery disciplines. Bronte Archers host a Double FITA Star tournament on behalf of NCAS each year.

The Yorkshire Archery Association (YAA), which governs the sport within Yorkshire. It has a committee made up of members from clubs within the region, including Bronte Archers.  YAA organises several competitions within the region each year.
